How did you find your new Pub?
And did any of you stick to tradition and drink in Plaistow/Canning Town/Upton Park?

First thing's first, it was lovely to walk around my old patch Mile End and see it awash with Claret & Blue. Passing the Little Driver and the Bow Bells was great seeing them rammed and the area full of West Ham.

I drank in The Plough on Fish Island which is a 10 minute walk from where my Nan lives. Beer was nice, it was packed, but there zero atmosphere and I didn't suspect anything else from a hipster pub, but it's convenient for my mate, so I suspect I'll meet him there most weeks, but have a few in the Coborn Arms or the Bow Bells beforehand.

Not a great start and it's not a patch if the Vic, but it's also only 5 minutes from the ground.

I agree. On paper it goes against the grain but I really like it. We've tried a few places in the three games so far, and like seats in the OS I'm sure we'll find a place that we'll call home. Going to the Stanley or the Vic just doesn't feel right at the moment either.

I've been made to go to Roof East twice now and it's the sort of place I absolutely hate, as I'm not into the trendy bollocks, as I like boozers with blood on the floor.

At the same time, it isn't that busy and on both occasions has been packed with some stunning birds, so may force myself to go there again tomorrow.

Always used to do the Greyhound - Black Lion - ground but just reversed it this Sunday, started in the Lion for a couple and some grub, down to the Greyhound for a couple more and then walk from there to the stadium took about 30 minutes, up through the back of Bow and past PML.

Cheers Lily, been in the Plough so far but suspect in the winter it will see numbers drop considerably

Rossal, that would be Bow Church to PML. I've not yet tried to walk from the LD to the OS, but google maps reckons about 25/30 minutes walk, which probably means 20 minutes, if you're reasonably mobile. Very similar to Black Lion or Stanley to UP.

I'm loving the hipster places around fish island. Great, great beer, and half decent nosh too.

Mick's Garage
Howling Hops
Trurib

All sampled so far, all recommended.

The staff all seem friendly and genuinely excited to be part of the match day experience.

Still got to try Crate Pizza, the Plough, Foremans and Number 90.

The beer is the best thing in all of them. Beats stale Carling and Fosters at any of the pubs around the Boleyn by a mile.

Re: How did you find your new Pub?
Plough before the match, busy , sunny , but how long to get a drink, could have walked to the Black Lion and back in that time. Eleanor Arms after, happy to redirect you to a more suitable pub, felt sorry for interrupting them really. Little Driver after, looks like it will be the new Stanley.

Re: How did you find your new Pub?
LD was absolutely packed when we came out of Bow Road it appeared the bouncers were knocking people back. Mooched on down to the Bow Belles where although very busy got served straightaway. Music was good too and jumped on the DLR one stop.

Didn't the Mancs all mob up one Saturday at the LD?

Re: How did you find your new Pub?
Bit odd that pricing. ... £50 and a free beer for every game....or £1200 and a free beer when you buy a meal....

Gavros 11:44 Tue Aug 23
Re: How did you find your new Pub?
Not bad that. Pays for itself if you nab a beer every game.
